One of my favorite passages about the future is Philippians 1:21-23. The great apostle Paul declared, "For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." In death, the believer gains the ultimate beyond - Heaven. Yet Paul wrote, "For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better." Notice those wonderful words: to depart and be with Christ. The Greek word for "depart" was used for a ship "to untie its moorings, wigh anchor, and sail away" (The Life to Come, Kenny Boles). That is precisely what happened when my father weighed anchor and set sail for new horizons. [From my forthcoming book Beyond the Stars: A Home in Heaven.]
